Health Care Coverage for Children in Florida
Florida is one of the states that broadened coverage for school-age children under the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansions this year. Children between ages 6 and 18 are now eligible for Medicaid. Medicaid typically offers more comprehensive health benefits than other public programs and does so at lower cost to families. Children under the age of 6 had already been eligible. The expanded age range of children eligible for coverage has seen an increase of Florida’s Medicaid enrollments for children by 137,000 this year.
Still, it’s estimated that more than 12 percent of children in Florida do not have health insurance, an unenviable status as having the country’s second-highest percentage of uninsured children, following only Texas with more children in this precarious condition.
Ensuring your whole family is covered with a health plan that you can afford is one of the most responsible things you can do as a parent. If you don’t qualify for a tax subsidy, we can help you discover which of the many private health insurance plans available in Florida will provide the most comprehensive coverage as well as be the most affordable option for you.

Automobile accidents are the No. 1 killer of teens in America, with 5,000 deaths each year.[1] What’s more, of the 2.2 million accidents per year among inexperienced drivers, 12 percent can be attributed to tire related issues, such as insufficient tread or pressure.[2] Even so, few driver’s education programs offer instruction on tire maintenance and safety. Because many of these accidents are preventable, Michelin and FIA have joined together to launch a new campaign, Beyond the Driving Test, to raise awareness of tire maintenance and safety. This will make available resources designed to initiate conversation between parents and teens, and among teen drivers and their peers.
